Clogging Team Bios -

Heidi Kulas (co-captain) grew up dancing with three generations of her family in Greenville, Michigan. As a young teenager, she was already competing, performing, touring and teaching clogging, Irish and many other traditional forms of percussive dance. She received a Michigan Dance Heritage Fellowship and moved to Maryland to be a principal dancer with the international touring company, Footworks Percussive Dance Ensemble, where she directed their Junior Company and their arts-in-education programs and community classes. Heidi has performed as a guest dancer with many artists including Nickel Creek, Lunasa, The Duhks, Uncle Earl, Eileen Ivers and Tim O’Brien. She holds a BA in Theatre Arts from Mars Hill College. Heidi served as the Bailey Mountain Cloggers captain for two years. She is also a member of the All American Clogging team. She is glad to be back at The Lodge as both a dancer and choreographer.

Cheryl Renfro (co-captain), began clogging at the age of eight in her home state of Kentucky. Since then she has won numerous Grand Champion Titles including Grand Champion Female Soloist, Grand Champion Duo and Grand Champion Duet. She's had the honor to perform at the Kentucky Derby Breakfast, The Kennedy Center, Dollywood, Walt Disney World and various stage and television performances. Cheryl was named to the All American Clogging Team and had the privilege to showcase her talent on TNN's Club Dance. In addition, Cheryl has traveled internationally performing on Cruise Lines and across Europe. She also danced her way through college with the National Champion Bailey Mountain Cloggers teaching, performing and competing. Cheryl continues to teach clogging and is happy to return to The Lodge as both a dancer and choreographer to share her love for dance.

Danielle Buice: attended Mars Hill College and danced with the Bailey Mountain Cloggers from 2002-2006. She is currently the Director of the Bailey Mountain Cloggers who recently won their 13th National Championship. Danielle has danced for about 20 years and has had the opportunity to travel a great deal. She has performed in Ireland, Costa Rica, Spain and across the nation. This is Danielle’s third year of performing at the Lodge.

Joseph Quattlebaum: I have been dancing since I was 12. I started dancing because it looked so fun and I wanted to know how to do it. The team that I danced for was a traditional team and I learned in the traditional style. Within the past few years, I have learned more about contemporary styles of clogging, but I still hold my passion for traditional dance, especially the Southern Appalachian mountain big circle dance. I joined the Bailey Mountain Cloggers when I came to college because I can't imagine being away from clogging for that long. My greatest achievement in dancing has been becoming great friends with so many great people that i dance with.

Misty Searcy: I have been dancing since I was 3 years old. I began at a small studio in Pickens, SC where I trained in jazz, tap, ballet, lyrical, Irish and clogging. From there I went to Mars Hill College where I danced with the 13 time national champion Bailey Mountain Cloggers. I just recently graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. This is my second year dancing for the Lodge. I am looking forward to an exciting new season.

Leah Cunningham: is a 21 year old from Demorest, Georgia and she is a junior at Mars Hill College double majoring in History and Political Science. She hopes to live and work in Washington, DC after graduating. Leah began dancing 19 years ago at Dance-A-Lott Studio, taking ballet, tap, jazz, modern and clogging. She danced with the Apple City Cloggers for 13 years and is now a proud member of the Bailey Mountain Cloggers.

Meghan McCartney: is a senior at Mars Hill College and has been dancing with the Bailey Mountain Cloggers for the past two years. She has 14 years experience with Irish dancing and has competed in Regional, National and World Championship competitions. She currently teaches Irish classes at the Asheville Arts Center.

Tyler Mercereau: is 17 years old and from Boone, North Carolina. He has been clogging for 5 years and has won numerous clogging awards. After completing high school, he plans on furthering his education at Mars Hill College. While at Mars Hill, he plans on expanding his knowledge in Musical Theater. He also plans on joining the world renowned Bailey Mountain Cloggers.

Michael Holcombe: I am Michael Holcombe from Mars Hill, NC. I’m in the 12th grade and I have been dancing for 9 years. My greatest achievements in clogging are qualifying for the AAU Junior Olympic games and of course dancing with the Bailey Mountain Cloggers. I hope to go to Mars Hill College and become an official Bailey Mountain Clogger.

Lee Revis: I am 17 years old and a student at Madison High School. I will graduate in 2008 and plan on starting Mars Hill College the following fall. My goal has been to be a Bailey Mountain Clogger at Mars Hill College and that dream is drawing near. My clogging began nine years ago and has grown to include numerous competitions and many trophies. My family has always supported me in this goal. I have been blessed by the Lord with a talent to dance, which I hope to continue to do and give Him glory. Practice makes perfect. “Moreover it is required in Stewards, that a man be found faithful.” 1 Corinthians 4:2 KJV
